Breville introduced the new Breville Oracle Jet in September of this year. It was first announced at the 2024 SCA Trade Show earlier in the year and has been on the wish list of many baristas and home baristas ever since.
The Jet isn’t the first Oracle model for Breville. The Oracle line has been around for over a decade and is arguably the flagship line for the company, which now offers a variety of other home appliances and accessories. The Oracle Jet is preceded by the Oracle Touch and the original Oracle. The goal of the Oracle line has long been to deliver an automated bean-to-cup machine that is simple and convenient but also provides more experiences users with the benefits of a traditional espresso machine.
The three Oracle models all feature a professional-style 58mm portafilter, group head, and automated grinding, dosing and tamping. The Oracle Touch introduced a touchscreen which you’ll also find on the Oracle Jet. Apart from those, you’ll find a number of updated and improved features.
Breville Oracle Jet Features
Thermojet Heating System
One of the biggest differences in the Breville Oracle Jet over previous Oracle models is the heating system. This model uses the Thermojet heating system, that can be found on many of Oracle’s other espresso machine lines. The Thermojet system replaces the double boiler system of previous models. The double boiler system allowed users to pull shots and steam milk simultaneously. The Oracle Jet includes two Thermojets, one for brewing and one for steaming. And while you can no longer pull shots and steam at the same time, the Auto Queue system and the quick switchover of the jets may address some of the concerns of those that would prefer double boilers.
Baratza® European Precision Burrs
The new set up includes a hardened steel burr grinder from Baratza® with 45 grind settings. This allows for more consistent grinds and a more uniform puck.
Auto Queue
The Auto Queue system allows you to save time by queuing up your next step in your process. With this feature, you’ll be able to seamlessly pull your shot after the auto grind and tamp or seamlessly steam your mile after the shot is pulled.
Auto MilQ™ System
The Auto MilQ™ system provides silky smooth foam for a variety of different milks. So, if you prefer soy milk, oak milk or almond milk over dairy, this system can handle it and adjust to ensure you’re getting the best foam possible. The system also allows for temperature adjustments between 104°F and 167°F and for 8 different texture levels.
Barista Guidance
For those of us that are just beginning our journeys into the magnificent world of creating great coffee drinks, the Barista Guidance feature of the Breville Oracle Jet is a game-changer. Barista Guidance will walk you step-by-step through the process of creating the perfect cup of coffee. It will also provide helpful tips and corrections in certain case, like letting you know that the shot was running too slow and suggesting that you increase your grind size.
For more seasoned baristas, the assists can be disabled and most settings can be fine-tuned to allow for your personal preferences.
Breville has also build this system to allow for OTA firmware updates which can address issues with the machine, optimize settings, and include new drink recipes.
Price
The Breville Oracle Jet is a high end machine and comes with a price tag that shows it. The Breville site list the machine for $1999.95 as of 11/7/2024. This is a bit cheaper than the other Oracle’s, partially due to the face that the machine does not use the expensive double boilers that were included in previous models.
