The French Connection is a simple yet sophisticated cocktail that has stood the test of time. Originally named after the 1971 Gene Hackman film, it’s made with equal parts cognac and amaretto, two spirits that complement each other beautifully. The cognac provides a rich, fruity base, while the amaretto adds a sweet, almond note. The French Connection is a sipping drinking to be enjoyed slowly and serves as a great nightcap.
Our Festive French Connection includes eggnog, nutmeg and star anise to create a delicious holiday twist on this classic cocktail. Check out the recipe below.

Tips for the Perfect Festive French Connection
- Choose Quality Spirits: The quality of your cognac and amaretto will significantly impact the flavor of your cocktail. Opt for reputable brands that offer smooth and flavorful spirits. We recommend Hennessy VS and Disaronno.
Use Fresh Egg Nog: Fresh, high-quality egg nog will elevate your cocktail. However, we tested this recipe with a store-bought option which kept it super simple.
Experiment with Ratios: Feel free to adjust the ratios of cognac, amaretto, and egg nog to suit your taste preferences.
Serve Chilled: A chilled glass will help keep your cocktail cold and refreshing.
